Here are some rodents you might see along your hikes in the local forests the agouties and the squirrel, there are 2 species of squirrels here the red tailed squirrel and the other one is the Variegated-Squirrel as see on the images below .

There are also allot of agouties (or locally called ñecke) The term common agouti designates several rodent species of the genus Dasyprocta. They are native to Middle America, northern and central South America, and the southern Lesser Antilles. For more on the agouties please see this page here at Wikipedia.
